What's wrong with my Chevy Venture
I am having a starting issue with my 2001 Chevy Venture. The van will start up fine about 2-4 times then it won't the next time. I drive it to the store and come out and it won't start. I can wait a hour or so and it will start right up. When it won't start its like it just won't turn over. I thought I may have had water in my tank and I put some heat in my tank. The problem still accures. I would love someone to be able to help me with this issue. Recap... My van won't start every time I try. If I wait for a while after I have this issue, it starts right up. Please help! I have been stranded 3 time in past two weeks. I am afraid it will happen when I have my children with me. Thank you very much!!

    . Replace coil packs (3):

    Should be an easy job.

Thanks for your quick response! I have made a ton of phone calls to auto shops to try to figure out what the problem is. They all say that it is the starter or bad connections on battery and such. How sure are you with your answer? Have you seen this problem before? I notice you help a ton of people on here. That is great! But I don't have much money to trial and error my way to the fix. So if you are very sure... I will start with your idea. I would love to here from you again. Thanks again for your help!

Corrosion on the battery cables, especially the Positive cable (right at the battery) is the likely cause of your intermittent no-start.
Both ends of both cables need to be clean and tight.

If your's is a "crank but won't start situation," then I would replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM). Shop around for price and warranty. If you want to go budget, replace the ICM and skip the coil packs, at this time.

If, instead, your starter motor doesn't crank (run) in these situations, then I would focus on the battery, connections, and starter motor. This link should help:

The answer to your question is the ignition switch I'm having the same issues. I have a power starter so I can still start mine but not with the key. It costs about 150.00 give or take and about 250.00 to put in only because they have to go into the cylinder and take out your airbag to do so right.
