    1993 Honda Accord LX
    I have a 1993 honda accord lx and the car doesn't want to start right away, it will turn over and over and over then turn on and run really rough, then shut off and the check engine light comes on along with the box around the drive 4 flashes anybody know what might be the problem.; It has a new battery, disturber, spark plugs, timing belt and water pump.

    . Check for codes, by jumping the Service Check Connector with a paper clip.

    . Perform the K-Test on your ECM:

    The K-Test: Remove the MAP Sensor connector and turn the ignition switch to ON (not start). Using a multimeter, check for 5 volts going between the MAP Sensor connector's reference wire (+) and ground. As you look at the connector, this is the socket on the right. Really press the black test lead into a cleaned main ECM ground on the thermostat housing. If the voltage is low, it's probably indicating ECM failure. Most failed ECMs will record a fraction of a volt. To me, the K-Test is simple, elegant, and accurate.

    Did the new distributor come with a new Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil? If not, these problematic components could easily cause the problem you are experiencing. AutoZone can test these parts for free. Was the distributor made by Honda or was it an aftermarket part? We've had many instances of aftermarket distributors for Hondas not working on this site--even new ones.
