Pontiac vibe won't start, no click, no powerlocks, no light on dashboard
I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, and I tried to start it this morning to no success. The key fob could not unlock the doors and I have to unlock each door manually to get in. When I did this, I tried to turn over the car but absolutely nothing happened, no lights, no clicking noise, not even the dashboard lit up. I've been having problems with my battery recently and have been meaning to replace it, but nothing like this. Also my serpentine belt was worn down. Is it a problem with my battery and serpentine belt, or something more serious?

Remove and fully charge, or replace, the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. You likely just need a new battery, especially with winter coming on. If you buy a new battery, get them to charge it, prior to installation. Be sure to clean the battery terminals and cable connections, too.

Afterwards, have the alternator checked. Ensure that the regulated battery voltage is 14 to 15 volts--if not, have it replaced.

I have the same problem with my daughters 2004 Vibe, at this very moment. She went shopping w/her 2 1/2 yr. old daughter, w/her mom,( my wife), and her grandmother, after she got off work last night around 7:30. I received her frantic call around 8:30. "Dad my car wont start, no lights, no horn, no click, no nothing". I've been servicing this vehicle since we purchased it new. I was a previous service tech for a Dodge dealership for several yrs. That was twelve yrs. Ago. She had a previous battery exchange that was done by her older brother when her battery failed about ten months ago, come to find out he cracked the top of battery at terminal, on the positive side. Long story short, battery was still holding a charge. I had to replace both battery cables however, then cleaned the battery and terminals four months ago. She never returned to the auto parts store for a replacement. I left my house armed w/multi-meter only, cables are kept in all our vehicles. Thought it would be just an easy jump start, and return home. I jumped started a used racer that had just been purchased, and wouldn't start after the new owner put fuel in at the gas station. I just walked out as he was exiting his non starting racing, and he asked if I had cables. I left my vehicle off since I just on the other side from the gas pump he used. It wouldn't start, so I ran my vehicle for just a couple, and he was off and running, after he purchased a cold adult beverage of my choice. My daughters car however, didn't keep the streak going, after she returned from taking the family back home.I had to clean the positive side terminal w/coke and clean drinking water. I got a 12.45 volt reading w/multi-meter. I used my vehicle w/cables as a precaution to hers, if our efforts were to be in vain. Before I gave her instruction to turn ignition, I checked her battery, I now read, 13.34 volts. I instructed her to slowly turn the ignition, and wait for the dash board instrument panel to light up, and all gauges functional, then turn to ignition. I acknowledged to her that I would be reading the battery voltage w/multi-meter as she did so. The battery should spike a complete volt and half for cranking power, if it drops, its no good. It dropped. I know I said "long story short", but I just needed to clear my continence and help hers, as far as my abilities to still make things work! What else, if any could be going on. I'm thinking ill find out more once I replace her battery this morning. I hope it still there, and they didn't tow it!
