    Car is shuttering and jerking
Anybody, I have a 1986 Mercury Sable SW, I just got it and at first it seemed to drive OK, except a little jerking like problem shifting gears. About 1hr after driving it started shacking so bad the stering wheel almost pulled out of my hands, I stopped the car and checked and found a hard vacuum line broke in to, was able to get car to auto zone and they told me that was probably my problem, but I had to get line at dealer. I got some electrical tape and taped it back together the best I could and it drove enough for me to get home. My question is there possible something else wrong, it seemed to helped when I taped the hard line. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated... Thanks

Since you fixed the vacuum leak, a problem shifting would be that when the car shifts gears it would jerk with you but wouldn't do it all the time. Since you said that the steering wheel would nearly jerk out of your hands, id check for steering probs, if the car just jerks like it's the engine doing the jerking then it could be the IAC (Idle Air Control)
