I have a 2000 Honda Accord and it is doing the same thing everyone else is talking about. I am thinking if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a duck. Meaning Hondo has screwed all of us with their AC units. Mine if it is cool weather or has been in the garage will start up and blow beautifully and stay on for awhile. But as soon as it gets hot - off it goes and then occasionally will pop back in for a bit. This has been going on for 2 years. I have spent the last two hours looking at hundreds of people that have had the same problem. I wish we had the ability to force a recall of their ACs it is obvious they are the ones who have put out an inferior product that we are no highly paying for. I know I won't buy another Honda and I will strongly encourage everyone else I talk to - not to buy either. If anybody comes up with a reasonalble solution - please let us all know. I am in Texas and it is measurable down here without AC.

See if this is your situation:

If you notice, after driving the vehicle for a while, that air stops coming out of the vents, the A/C clutch cycling switch may be bad. Turn the A/C on, open the hood, and verify that the low pressure pipes are good and cold. The cycling switch is supposed to control the evaporator core pressure at a point where the plate/fin surface temperature will be maintained slightly above freezing. Instead, it may be energizing the clutch too much and the system is icing up. In this situation, simply unscrew the old cycling switch from the Schrader valve-type fitting on the accumulator, coat the threads and O-ring with PAG oil, and install the proper cycling switch. It is not necessary to discharge the refrigerant system to remove the switch. The cycling switch's cut-on and cut-off pressures are readily available in manuals; therefore, its operation can be monitored by the manifold gauge set and you can tell whether its working properly or not. Wear safety glasses.

Some Hondas have something like the A/C clutch cycling switch, but it is located with the evaporator coil (under the dash). I recommend that you take it to Honda. Explain this situation to them and they should be able to fix it. Get an estimate, in writing, beforehand.
