I cannot move the gear lever stick from the 'P' position when I swithchon and when I press the foot-break.
Normaly there is a 'click' sound when I press the foot-break to move the gear-stick by pressing the thumb button on the stick. It is rigid and doesnot move
The car stazrsts all right, but cannot engage the gear into Drive position.
Please let me know what could be the problem. Thank you.

You have a Shift Lock System problem, which prevents the shift lever from moving, unless the brake pedal is depressed and the accelerator is in its rest position. Most likely, you will need to have the dealer diagnose the problem and determine if the Interlock Control Unit or the Automatic Transmission Gear Position Switch needs to be replaced.

But it could be as simple as a fuse. Easiest way, see if you have brake lights when the brake pedal is depressed.
If not... then either a stop lamp fuse, or the brake pedal switch. The wrong brake bulb installed is a common factor in electrcal shorts there.
You should have an over ride button under a little cover on your shifter. All you need to do pull it off and use a pointed object to press it.
Your owners manual will explain all this.

I tried this once or twice before, I'm not sure if my question went through, so here it is again.
I have a 1990 Honda Accord that will not start, it cranks. I tried to get it to fire with starting fluid and it did not fire. I don't think it is getting power to make the engine fire, any suggestions?
