    Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL. Can you tell me what the purpose is of the "ambient air temperature sensor" and can it make your car stall during "hot and humid" driving conditions? What is the connection between this sensor and the "air conditiong" system?

It detects the outside temperature that your car is in. Read on...

and can it make your car stall during "hot and humid" driving conditions?
No. It only detects the temperature for the A/C system.

Stalling during "hot and humid" driving may be due to the PCM not being able to control the throttle angle when the A/C cycles on and off.
Have the Idle Air Control (IAC ) solenoid tested and replaced if it's bad, and have the throttle body and the IAC passages thoroughly cleaned. Carbon build-up can cause drivability problems like those you described.

What is the connection between this sensor and the "air conditiong" system?
That sensor plays a large role when the automatic A/C controller wants to decide blower speed settings and blend door positions

Additionally, the system has automatic solar compensation for high sunload conditions. The sunload sensor is located in the upper LH corner of the instrument panel.
For optimum automatic operation, the system should be in AUTO mode and set to the desired temperature setting.
Raising or lowering the set temperature in large increments from the comfort setting will not reduce the time required to reach stabilized comfort.

How to improve duct temperature sensor [ 1 Answers ]

Recently I encounter a very high failure rate in our aircraft's aircon duct sensor. It may be due to high humility and the aircon package's water separator was unable to extract the water. Modification of aircon pack is not a option. So that leaves the improvement of the temperature sensor. Does...
