92 honda civic automatic shifter moves while driving
Hello, would any one know if there was a factory recall on automatic shifter that can be bumped forward into "N" and even "R" while driving. When reaching forward for coffee holder, ash tray, etc. jacket sleeve can even change position.I thought to move one must push in thumb button? If this is common, then this might not be some kind of missing retainer clip.
Many years ago my 1991 XJ Jeep was called in for this same reason.

My car shifts into N without pushing the shift release button on the shift lever, but not R unless I'm stepping on the brake pedal.

Odds are there's no recall because recalls are reserved for a potentially dangerous situation. However, there may be a technical service bulletin if the problem is frequent enough in the same vehicle.
