    REMOVAL

    1. Drain cooling system into a suitable container.
    2. Disconnect hoses from heater core. Plug hoses and core openings to prevent leakage of residual coolant.
    3. Working inside the passenger compartment, remove screws attaching heater core access cover and remove the cover.
    4. Pull the heater core rearward and down to remove from the plenum.

    INSTALLATION

    1. Position heater core and seal in the plenum opening.
    2. Install heater core access cover.
    3. Attach heater hoses to core tubes. Use new clamps and do not overtighten clamps.
    4. Refill cooling system and purge all the trapped air.
    5. Check system for proper operation and insure there are no leaks.

This might be the time to replace all the hoses, if not done recently.

I recently purchased a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. The serpentine belt had a bit of an inconsistent 'squeak' sound. I looked at the belt, and found that it is dry-rotted a little and has cracks. I sprayed a product that is supposed to eliminate the squeaking noise (should that be the true problem),...
