    Thoughts:
    1. Check for any transmission codes.
    2. Check throttle cable adjustment, which is essential for proper operation of the transmission. Not only does it affect the shift points if misadjusted, but also the shift quality and lock-up clutch operation.
    3. You may have a defective 1st-hold clutch and a 1-2 shift valve stuck open.
    4. Often, ATX shifting problems are due to poor preventive maintenance; i.e. not changing the ATF and filter frequently enough, allowing varnish and sludge to interfere with servos and control valves operating properly. Consider Auto-Rxing your transmission and then switching to a full-synthetic ATF.
    5. ATXs are only engineered to go approximately 150,000 miles, before needing to be rebuilt.
