Having a problem with the a/c in our dodge 1500 4x4. Looking for a leak but can't seem to figure it out. Anyone know of where to look for possible leaks etc.

Inspect the A/C components for oily spots, possibly dirt clinging. Look over the condenser (in front of the radiator) you may have picked up a small stone. The front seal on the compressor is also a weak link. If everything looks good under the hood, the leak may be the evaporator core. It's inside the vehicle and cannot be seen without disassembly.

An A/C shop should be able to find any leaks, and many charge little or no fee, hoping you'll buy their recommended repair(s) Be sure to ask about diag fees upfront and ask, too, about warranties. If they don't want to be open, don't give them your keys.

    Good luck!

DTC code on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 [ 2 Answers ]

My Power Programmer for my truck tells me that I have a DTC code of P0420. I believe it has something to with the catalyst efficiency being below threshold. Do I get a dealership to fix this crap, or can I get the tools and materials to do it myself?
