1992 honda prelude turns over but will not start?
I have a 1992 honda Prelude, I just recently aquaried this vehical from a friend, when we got it had it about a week was able to drive and things were fine but when it was stationary in my mother in law's back yard for a couple of days it had died.. got the car jump started and drove it that day... when I was at the car wash it had died again and had to get jump started after all day of dealing with the car dying finally realized that the stereo system that the pervious owner had in there had completely drained the battery.. so after replacing the battery and the battery terminals it still will not start but will turn over. Any suggestions?

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter--be very thorough. Focus, particularly, on the ACG(ALT)(S) fuse in the under dash fuse box.

. If the Check Engine Light comes on and goes out after two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), the problem is likely distributor related. Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil, located inside the distributor, usually solves the problem. I'm assuming, now, that there are no issues with fuses, battery, or stereo system. Be sure to apply silicone heat transfer grease to the back of the new ICM.

Yor coil is bad and you need to change it after about 3 or 4 tune ups. The stereo was taxing the ignition system and slamming the coil. This is why you need an oversized or prostock alternater to play ball with yor electronics system. I suspect you have a kicking system and you need that extra boost. Always and i mean always protect your ignition system if you keep trying to start you car you can burn out your electronic ignition. [email protected]
