I plan to change the timing belt on my 91 civic si. I initially planned to use a breaker bar and socket on the crank pulley bolt and then bumping the starter to breakthe bolt loose. I have used this method on other makes and it worked fine. However, when I verified the direction of engine rotation, I noticed it was in the wrong direction and would have further tightened or snapped the bolt. All the crank pulley holding tools seam to be made for the style of pulley that has an hexagonal insert whereby the tool can engage the pulley. My crank pulley does not have this feature and thus I cannot use this type of tool. I also want to avoid having to use a strap wrench on the pulley or wedging something against the flywheel. Does anyone know of a crank pulley holding tool for this model and year civic?
