    Non-Profit Business Steps?
To make this short and simple, I just got my BA degree and plan on going back within the next year for my MBA. I run an online business now but it doesn't take much of my time at all. I am wanting to start a non-profit charity to help underprivileged kids but I have no idea where to start?

Any information or help would be great!

That is a very ambitious and worthwhile plan, mr. knocker. There are definitely a lot of kids in inner cities across America who could benefit, but that would mean a lot of sifting out, etc.

First you must get a business plan together and apply for a State licence for a charty. I don't think they are easy to acquire because you really have to prove it will be non profit, have a boad of directors, etc. so it must be run as a company disbursing the money acquired.

How would you raise the money is a good place to start. What benefits would you engage to do this ?

I hope I have given you some food for though and a good place to start.

I've met a lot of honest wealthy people throughout my college years. I was going to solicit the idea to them first to get the start-up money. Then hopefully the rest would come from donations and volunteers. The business side shouldn't be difficult for me, I just know that starting a non-profit or not for profit business is completely different than running an internet business.

But you still need a state licence to run a charity.
