I really want my navel pierced but my mum being my mum she said no
I've got everything you would need to get it done lying about my room and I no how to serilise it etc
My questions are,
Should you go from top to bottom or bottom to top?
How much forse should you apply on the needle to make it go through?
And it there any way to make it go through easier as me and my mate tried before (bottom to top) n we had to give up becoz after an hour it was only like 2mm through and the skin was so stuburn

Wait until you are old enough to get it done professionally.

You don't want to get an infection from an amateur job and risk getting sick or scarred for life.

Thanks.. and I've tried waiting for so many years now and I'm getting so impatient (il have to wait 2 and a half years). Its most likely if I do it myself il freak out about my mum seeing it and end up taking it out, I just want to see what its like to have one and id tell my mum after a while a wouldn't keep it from her forever

The only way to properly sterilize the needle is with an autoclave. I really doubt you have one of those, LOL. Putting it through a flame won't sterilize it, if that is who you were thinking of doing it.

It needs to be done by a proper licensed piercer as they know the right gauge needle to use for whatever jewelry you would like to wear. A simple "needle" is not the proper equipment.

If you do it yourself you are setting yourself up for a possibly serious infection. What would your mum think if you got that kind of infection?

Neither. Like J_9 said, an autoclave is the only thing that will sterilize the needle enough for piercing. Boiling it and putting it through a flame will not sterilize.

If you pierce it and it gets infected, your mother is going to find out anyway when she has to take you to the doctor. Your best bet is to wait until you are old enough to get it done by a professional.

This is definintely NOT a way to sterilize. Naval piercings, even when done by a professional, is the #1 piercing that is prone to infection.

I'm glad you realize how risky it is to do something like that yourself. Good job. And get going on those studies! You never know, your mom might just surprise you if you work really hard! :)

I did this when I was younger, I buggered it up and it got infected. I later got it done by a professional much easier and they know what they are doing.
I have many piercings... toungue navel cartlidge, nipple and a few unmentionables
Never pierce yoursel, you can't see properly and the infections can ultimately result in paralysis of your body in extreme cases even death

Naval piercings are surface piercings and have a higher risk of rejection and infection than piercings like your ears. So, I would thus advise a professional to do it and wait until you are old enough of course. There is a reason why there are ages of consent for piercings and should be listened to. I went to a rather expensive piercer too so that I definitely cannot kick myself about trying to get it done on the cheap and risking myself.

I always wanted a belly piercing but only got one at aged 21. My mum did not want me to get it even at 21, parents believe you are beautiful natural so most will say no most of the time. But when you are old enough, I waited until 21 you are able to acknowledge if you really want them and if you are prepared for the scarring or rejecting that can occue. You have to be sure you want it because if the risk of infection or rejection is higher than usual you have to be prepared for it to scar if it does reject.

They take 3-9 months to heal fully and so at least when you get it done preofessionally you are giving your body the best chances at it not rejecting/infecting. You should not change belly bars until it is fully healed, which can take to 9 months, as I said before.

It also will hurt a lot less if you get it done professionally. They line it up with dots. Then lay you down. Stab the needle through, not a clue which way they do first as was laying down. Is done in seconds, sharp feeling for a second and all done. Safer, less painful, sterilised professionally, done professionally, it is worth the money.
