I think that makes them your second cousins. I think that's to close to date.

Yes she would be your cousin, her kids your second cousin, and if they latter have kids your third cousin

    Your parents are siblings.

    She's your first cousin.

Her kids are your first cousins once removed.

Her grandkids are your first cousins twice removed.

Your kids and her kids are second cousins.

Your kids and her grandkids are second cousins once removed.

Your kids and her great grandkids are second cousins twice removed.

Your grandkids and her grandkids are third cousins.

Your grandkids and her great grandkids are third cousins once removed.

    And so on...

Our parents are not siblings. HIS father is my father's niece. There is a generation between us. My father's sister was his grandmother. His mother was my dad's niece. So I believe that makes him my first cousin, once removed. Is that right? Thank you again for all the input.

When I said your parents are siblings, I was referring to you and your father's niece. Her mother is your father's sister, right?

Your father's niece (female) can't be anyone's father. The HIM you're talking about is the niece's son, right?

Unless I'm even more confused than I think I am, that's right.

Hi Ordinary Guy, you're not nearly as confused as I am, obviously! My father's niece is this person's mother.

My brother said that, since there's a generation skip he is my first cousin once removed.

Yes, the HIM I speak of is the niece's son.

You are first cousins once removed.

To determine this, count back the number of generations to the common ancestor for each of you:
    You, father, grandfather. 2 generations.
Him, mother (father's niece), parent (father's sibling), grandfather. 3 generations.

1 generation is siblings. 2 generations is first cousins. 3 generations is second cousins. 4 generations is third cousins. And so on.

Now, choose the shorter of the two paths. That would be two generations, so you're first cousins.

Now, take the difference between the two paths (3 - 2 = 1) gives you once removed.

Therefore, you are first cousins once removed.
