    Violet toner pulling orange/red tones
I was wondering how violet neutralizes orange tones? It is my understanding from the color wheel violet neutralizes yellow tones and blue neutralizes orange tones. And at best a blue/violet toner will neutralize orange/yellow tones. Is it possible that if you do use a violet toner on orange the red in both will actually cause it to continue to pull warm red/orange tones? If the "violet" is a true purple then it is equal parts red + blue and orange being equal parts red + yellow = RR+BY or double red & green. Since red neutralizes green but you have double red is it possible to still be left with the "leftover" red tone?

I am pretty sure that in order to pull orange tones you need a blue toner.

I have naturally dark blonde hair. I have highlights and a base color now. Hair is much lighter and seems to keep getting lighter and now Yellow to orange (brassy)! What will tone this down and get rid of all brassiness without lifting my hair color again!
