The acid in the lemon juice irritated your already sensitive skin.
You would be better off using a dab of toothpaste as a home remedy.

Toothpaste would reduce swelling if you find a toothpaste with zinc in it, which is now difficult. The burning sensation may irritate your skin even more.
Depending on your age, I would suggest the younger you are, the more gentle the cleansing and treatment should be. You do not want to offset your pH balance, especially if it's just hormonal acne. Try some simple spot treatments, such as tea tree oil. It's also all natural, and you can find it in some drugstores in the health food areas. Do not use too much, however, as it can be extremely drying. Use a good moisturizer, and, if you're flaking, use a rehydrator.
If your acne gets even worse, go to a doctor. You can get prescribed a cream called Clindoxyl, which is 1% clindamycin and 5% benzoyl peroxide. It's pretty good, especially for mild to moderate acne. There are other topical treatments, but some are safer depending on the age of your skin.

I've used toothpaste, and it really works. Just make sure to wash it all off in the morning and then use a good cream to mousturize because the toothpaste will really dry out your skin.

I use vitamin E cream and love it, cocoa butter is also great for dry skin, get something without fragrance or unnatural additives, otherwise it will make your acne worse.

    Good luck.
