    Dark under-eye circles
I have always had dark circles under my eyes. I am white, fair-skinned and blonde. Could this be the only reason? I also saw an ENT doc for a septoplasty 3 years ago and he told me the reason could be sinus related and said the surgery may help, but it hasn't at all. I am well nourished and get enough sleep most of the time. The circles are worse whenever I don't get enough sleep, but are there when I get more than enough. I try to cover them with make-up but they are still visible. Any ideas? Are there any other causes I haven't considered?
    Thanks,

    Dark Eye Circles;
I have the same prob; I have a very fair complection and blonde hair. I've always had circles under my eyes too, but I found out that mine are Hereditary. And now that it's allergy season, they're extra dark and puffy. I try to use make-up too, but either it wears off or just doesn't work good enough. And I'm kinda tired of having to put make up on every morning for school. But today I was shopping around CVS and found a product called Vita-K Solution For Dark Circles Under Eyes for about $11.99. I've heard that it'd pretty good; and worth the price. I guess I'll have to find out for myself. But since that stuff isn't magical, and doesn't work in 10 seconds, I wanted to find some good concealer even though I'm sick of make up. I ended up finding a concealer called Physicians Formula Concealer Magic Cube. I tryed it out & it covers up my circles really good. That's the only ideas I have for you. I hope I helped out a little. Best of luck. :)

    This has worked for me...
I have to admit right off the bat, that I've never had terribly dark circles under my eyes, but once I reached my twenties, they became a bit too dark for my liking. I'm not sure how severe yours are, but what worked for me was using Arbonne's anti-aging line. I'm telling you, this stuff is wonderful. My skin is so much lighter under my eyes and my skin tone overall has evened out very nicely.

This is due to the many beneficial ingredients contained in the anti-aging line such as kojic acid, which is known for aiding in cases of skin discoloration. They also offer a 45-day money-back guarantee, so if it you aren't satisfied, you can always send the products back.

If you have any other questions about it, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I have to let you know that I am an Arbonne consultant, but that's only because I know I can stand behind their products.

You can check out my website www.laura.myarbonne.com or e-mail me at [email protected].

Take care, and best of luck!

Website in help for dark circles
In my own personal reseach about how to counteract dark eyes circles is the importance of Vitamin K in maintaining healthy circulation, since the blue color you see is just blood circulating poorly in the skin under your eyes. There are these vitmain made by Jan Marini (she makes a lot of good topical products too) that are formulated with extra vitamin k to correct any circulation problems. I strongly suggest that if nothing has worked so far, an oral supplemtent is a good choice.

Check out this link, it might help explain a few things..

    http://www.medicinenet.com/script/ma...ticlekey=50505

Remember a TV show with Bob Marlin? His assistant was a veterinarian, and he went back to med school to become a 'people' doctor. He refuses to treat his patients further if they do not follow his regimen of vitamins and minerals he prescribes. A lot of people think they only produce 'expensive urine', but they actually help, because today's society is so geared on fast food, and the vegetables grown, have only good looks, but not good ingredients unless you grow them yourself. The above site is not just for skin problems, it's a real good medical site to check every now and then.

I also have a hoemeopathic doctor in the family, and he says that the body outside reflect what's going on inside, the only way for it to send a 'signal' that most people don't pay attention to. Most clincians treat the symptoms and don't have time or patience to look for the 'cause' due to high medical costs and quotas of patients that have to be seen in order to make them bucks! Sorry that there is no more Dr. Welbey! Good luck to you and your body!

    Dark Eye Circles
Dark circles under the eyes can be a combination of two things. One is hyperpigmentation of the skin directly under the eyes and the other, which is the most likely cause is thin skin directly under the eyes. If the problem is just hyperpigmentation then this this can be remedied by a visit to a cosmetic surgeon who can either laser it off with a CO2 laser (this is a bit extreme but works it works very well for pigmentation problems and it makes the skin under the eyes look damn fantastic) or you can ask him or her to mix you up a cream or gel that consists of Gylcolic Acid, Hydroquinone and Kojic Acid (Also works well on pigmentation but is very slow acting, can take up to 6weeks or more to see results) *Note: Hydroquinone in small doses is not dangerous nor is Kojic Acid. It won't happen over night but it will happen. Now if the problem is thin skin then you definitely have a problem. Let me explain. Under the eyes and under the skin around your eyes are a complex mesh of blood vessels and the Orbicularis muscle both of these naturally have a blue-ish red colour, so if the skin in that area is very thin then the colour of the blood vessels and the muscle can be seen through the skin causing you to have the appearance of dark circles. No amount of cream will get rid of this. If this is what your problem is, and at least 97% of people with dark circles this is the case, then there really is nothing you can do. In saying that, if you really got desperate about it you could try fat grafting or Newfill injections under they eyes but there is not guarantee it will work, it costs a fortune and the fat grafting is very painfull and extremely traumatic. There is also a distinct possibility that you could end up with nodules under theys (fatty lumps) You will get some reduction of the circles but they will definitely not completely disappear. Trust me! I have had all of it done. :o

Try this link. It is a humorous way of explaining dark circles, but explains causes too. My experience with patients in my field is due to drug and alcohol abuse which can change more than just the eye skin consistancy but much more. Stress, improper diet, depression, and insomnia are also causes of these conditions, but I hope you don't fall under these categories. Is there diabetes in your family? At any rate a doctor's visit won't hurt. Good Luck, dear I hope everything turns out for you.

One more reason to add to Chery's for dark circles is allergies. If you suffer allergies including hay or food, the results will be in the dark circles. Many say once they take out dairy or suspicious allergans from their diet, they see improvement in their dark circles more quick than any cream around!

Chery, I can quiet easily see that you are trying to be helpful but I am greatly offended by your insinuation that I may possess a drug or alcohol problem. I do agree that drugs and alcohol can have a negative adverse affect on a persons skin and may contribute or even cause dark circles under the eyes but this is not the case for me. I live, what I consider to be a very healthy lifestyle. I do not under any circumstance take drugs, unless they are prescription, nor do I drink. In fact I have an intolerance to alcohol and therefore not only do I not drink it but I try to avoid putting it on my skin, which means I stay away from skincare or personal hygiene product that contain alcohol. This includes perfume. I do not suffer from insomnia or clinical depression / mental illness and as for stress, well, I am probably guilty of that but then again I would like to meet a person that has never been stressed at some point in their life. I also have no family history of diabetes. In regards to consulting a doctor, I have done so many times. As matter of fact I am one, I am a Anaesthesiologist and my husband is a ENT specialist.

I did have a look at the link you posted with your message and from what I can see it has stated a much similar conclusion to mine. Blood Vessels. The only difference being that I have given a much more detailed explanation and some possible but, as I stated, not sure fire ways of treating the problem.

I am sure you meant well and your message about drugs, alcohol and an unhealthy lifestyle are all very important but in the future please be more considerate and professional before assuming anything about people you do not know.

Please accept my apology if you thought I meant you in this post. I was referring to the patients we treat and their main cause of this problem, not you, just telling you of examples of various symptoms and truly did not imply that you were in this category. I am a recovering alcoholic myself, dry for over 25 years, and that's why I treat those now who want to be helped. Again, sorry if you feel offended, as this was not my intent, and would never imply such without personally knowing you.

Your apology is happily accepted. Although, I feel I should apologise as well. I should not have jumped to conclusions about the intent of the words you wrote.

Message boards are about providing advise and seeking answers, it is not a battle ground. I should not have crossed that line.

Hey, we're only human, and can always start over. Stay with 'our little family' and help others as well. The misunderstanding between us is a 'rose' compared to some others here, but as I stated - we are only human.

    Stephen who?
I just got an instant message that a stephen answered to this thread, but don't see any post from this person. But this does give me the opportunity to ask you, aussiegirl, how you are and wish you happy holidays too. How are your eyes doing?

Too bad they don't have a smily for an Australian Christmas, because I know you have a warm season now, just as in the place we were in Japan, we were mowing the lawn and cuting roses there. Have a happy!

    New recommendation
I had posted on Jan Marini vitamins a few weeks back and now I have a new product to recommend. Not that JM vitmamins aren't good, you can probably take them in conjunction with this cream, but I recently started using products by Philosophy. They have an eye cream called "Eye Believe" that is a really great cream. I've also started using their night cream called "When hope is not enough". Such cute names for such good products.

Here's a link to their stuff. Enjoy! Philosiphy Products

I wasn't born with it. But now I have it
I didn't have dark circles under the eyes before. I've only had them since we moved into this house early-2002... Maybe something in this house or around this place is present and I might be allergic to it. It could be pollens, wood, grass, pollution, etc. I don't know. People always notice those under eye circles. And it pisses me off.

Or maybe it's my diet... I think it's the allergy because I've tried IPL treatments and they never worked so that means it's not a hyperpigmentation problem.
Just my advice: Don't apply bleaching creams (I've tried them too, but they did not show any favorable results) especially when you get exposed to heat and sun rays. It'll only make your dark circles darker.

    Thanks... Just sharing my observations.

I'm 55 and getting 'age spots' now and then. Luckily none on my face, but some on my neck and lower and when I wear tops they get revealed. So, just on a whim, when I saw this home shopping show, I watched what a product called Instant Cover from IGIA does. I bought the whole set, which came with creams of three different shades (light, medium, dark) a moisture tube for under the eyes, and a touchup tube for on the go. These are all waterproof and I've used them sparingly on those spots and they work. I had to mix the light and medium together to get the right color for me, but it was worth it, nobody notices that I have this applied. It's also good for varicose veins on the legs, and I use it for facial make-up when going out, as it's waterproof and does not wear off after a while. You can only order it through the TV, but I'm sure each state has a home-shopping channel. I would suggest trying this if nothing else works, as I'm also sensitive to many things, and this is not one of them, does not cause irritation or pimples and comes off good with a make-up remover, or soap and water. It's made in the USA and they have an internet site as follows:

    www.igia.com

I don't remember how much it cost then, but it does last a long time, as you only need a little tip to cover a large area.

Good luck and hope this will work for you if nothing else does.

I do not sell or advertise for this company, just thought I'd let you know what worked for me. So, please don't consider this as spam. Thanks. The price was around 19.95 without shipping. I gave the Dark color to a friend of mine from Malaysia and she's likes it.
