Sweetie, the only way to effectively remove birthmarks is by Laser therapy or Surgery. The costs for these procedures vary, depending on the doctor, the location, technique used and the difficulty of the specific case. I recommend that you consult a doctor that specializes in Birthmark Removal.

I have those too. I have one on my right cheek, my elbow, back of the hand, knee, and stomach. They're like the size of a bb. When you push on them they go away. They're just red and have been there for years. What are these things?

It's a port wine stain birthmark. The veins simply didn't form correctly in utero; there is nothing medically wrong, you were simply left with a birthmark.

If the birthmark really bothers you visit a dermatologist or aesthetician and a laser can be used to remove the birthmark. Depending on the size and how "purple" it is will affect the cost of having it removed. The port wine stain usually is a combination of shallow veins and deeper veins that were not formed correctly so it will probably take several laser treatments to have it removed.

Be sure to see someone who is reputable and experienced with using a laser; a laser can burn and some can be severe, and a vascular area (port wine stain) can take longer to heal if you are burned. Ask for credentials, even if you are seeing an MD it does not mean that they are experienced with using a laser, so be sure to ask about training and experience with port wine stains. You may want to seek out a dermatologist specifically.

It is your birthmark and part of who you are, so take some time in deciding if that is really want to do.
