I purchased a car last year juy 2009 for 7,800.00 in CA. paid 3,550.00 cash and ended with balance of 4,250.00 NOTE: on contract there was no due day or payoff day- is blank, I have pay them 3,500 as of today, I am currently unemployd and I pay dealership any amout that is posible. Also a month after I got the car I received the DMV "pink slip" that entitle me to complete ownership of this vehicle. Personel fron car delership haved called me several times and demainding their money, and traten me to reposes car. Can dealership reposes car from me? What can they do? What are my rights as owner of the car, because on contract ( long contract, the one they show to dmv) car is already paid off according to delaership. Thank you

The way I see it and this is just my opinion but you knew you were to pay $7800 and you only paid 3550 with a balance of $4250
Why do you think you should not honor your debt.Where I live we get a title when the car is paid off.
So I am a little confused as to what pink slip you are talking about. Maybe someone who knews these things can better advise you. But I still say if you owe it you should make some kind of payment plan with them

It seems to me that if you have the title to the car then it's yours. If the dealership feels that you have not paid in full in accordance with your agreement they can sue you for the balance, but I don't see how they can repossess the car.

And just to be clear - on the pink slip that you received from the DMV, it makes no mention of any liens against the car, right?

The CA pink slip is a certificate of title. If you are listed as the registered vehicle owner, it is YOUR car. Now as far as the outstanding balance, I will have to assume you have some form of loan documentation showing you as responsible for the money due. If so, the dealership has every right to request payment due. In regard to repossessing the vehicle, it will depend on the wording of the loan paperwork, you must read this carefully and find it. Unless there is a lien on the vehicle (or statement that vehicle is collateral) in the contract, they cannot repossess the car.

You still owe the money, so read your contract very carefully to look for leinholder, and familiarize yourself with the "Default" section of the contract.
