Medical bill
Hi
When a medical provider tells you its OK to send 50.00 dollars a month on a balance that is 500.00 dollars do I need to get this in writing ? 50 a month is just about all I can afford to send The lady in billing set up the payments and I was just wondering should I get this in writing I am very good about paying my bills and will honor the agreement but a friend said they might want the whole thing at once after a couple of payments any advice would be helpful

9 times out of 10 you can pay your 50 dollars a month and there is no problem, since most doctors officers are great and they do this all the time, But if you have that one that keeps bad records or changes office managers or decides to change procedures in 3 months, then you would need it in writing.

Just to be safe, it wouldn't hurt to get the agreement in writing. It would protect them as well as you!

I would gauge by the tone of the Billing person in the doctor's office. If she sounded like a very nice person, then ask if she can send you a letter of the agreement. If you are concerned about asking, then write on the first check (and pay ONLY by check or Money Order) payment 1 of 10. On each subsequent change write 2 of 10, 3 of 10 etc.
