    How to save my property from credit cards
    My father has about 20 acres of land that is paid for free and clear. He has a house and 2 acres of land that he is still paying on. The house is old and in need of repair, but it's his home. Back a few years ago he was in a bad car wreck and out of work for a while. SInce then he has not been able to really go back to work. This has caused him to pile up with credit card debt. He wants to save his land, but has no clue as to what the credit card companies can do. He has an attorney trying to help take care of the cards. He tried to work with them and make payments or pay them off at a percentage. But now they want payment in full, plus interest and penalties and court cost. What can he do to keep from losing his land he worked and paid for?? The lawyer says worst case scenario is to do nothing, go to court and the creditors can put a lien on the land. But with this until the money is paid the land can not be sold or deeded to anyone. Then the credit card companies could sell the land and get their money!
