    Frozen bank account
I am in serious need of help I had thought about doing some distance learning to facilitate my working long hours supporting our rather large family with wanting my RN. I contacted Chancellors. I had heard a lot about them from a friend. I proceeded to sign up with them and begin. I gave my bank info etc. and waited for my first book. I never received it, so I called on a couple different occasions to see if they could kindly mail me my psych study guide. Still to this day have not received it, they had not taken anything from my account so I just let it all go and moved on.iI received a letter from a law firm stating that I owed Chancellors 5600 + dollars. I immediately called and sent a letter disputing it. (I heard that I should have sent it certified). I also faxed a letter to them. Well my husband and I have been struggling to make ends meet (I had taken a job that I absolutely loved but it paid a lot less than we were used to) I deposited our Mortgage money and our vehicle payment into our bank acct which had already been at a slight negative to begin with. Our mortgage had fallen behind when I had taken the lower paying job. So I needed to call my mortgage company and make my pmt. I deposited the bill money on Thursday, Friday Chancellors froze my account. I received a letter Saturday from an attorney stating that I owe Chancellors 5646.00 and that my acct can be frozen for up to a year! I am so upset! Now all my bill money is being held hostage for money that I supposedly owe for a product I never received! I am at a loss. I am afraid that I will lose my home and everything I have worked so hard for. I have accepted a new job for double my current pay... but what to do about this Chancellors business while I try to start this new job. I am in some serious need of advice or direction. I am at a loss. Please anything. Tax time is near and I am worried that they will take them too. I am facing some serious problems over all this, and all for something I never received! Help me please.

    Hello liz31

In order for your bank account to be frozen a judgement would have had to be entered
Did you receive a warrant in debt for ths? How long ago did this happen? A company itself canot freeze your account. It must go through the legal system first. Were there any calls letters et?

There was one letter and that is the letter that I responded to by calling the law firm and stating that I am disputing the debt. That is also when I faxed them. I spoke with them again today and at first the man said "see, this is what happens" "When it rains it pours" were his exact words. He wants me to fill out a financial statement to determine how much he can "propose" to his client for repayment. I explained that chancellors did not hold up their end of the bargain with me since I have never received anything from them. He stated that once I agree to make payments and am consistent with three of them then they will send me my info but now instead of 0% interest I have to pay 9% interest since it has "gone this far" EVEN THO THEY NEVER HELD UP Their END OF THE CONTRACT!! I am just worn down and wonder if I should just agree to repay, might be cheaper than a lawyer. This man by the end of the conversation, would not let me agree to repayment. He advised me to talk it over with my husband tonight and see if we could afford to pay anything on it monthly. What do you think?

    Hello Liz31

Go to the bank and tell them to let you see the writ to attach your account,There should be a number on there for you to call also see who where and when a judgement was entered
You need to know when the judgement was entered and how the summons was served
