    Elderly Woman in Debt
My 75 year old mother is about $10,000 in debt with credit cards. She lives in Nevada and is getting different answers when trying to find out if she can or should file bankruptcy. I live 1000 miles away and am not able to help financially. One clerk from the court told her that the collectors could come in and take everything she owns and even follow her to the bank and take her money when she cashes her socia security check. She's terrified because she has only a few things, coffee pot, TV, clothes, etc... What should she be doing?

I would look up the bankruptcy laws/requirements for Nevada and instruct her to file for bankruptcy if she can. She needs to seek advice from a professional on how to avoid having repossession, garnished benefits and so on.
