Bankruptcy supersedes everything. If you have judgments against you currently, then yes, filing for bankruptcy will stop them. A good bankruptcy attorney will go over your financials with you and determine which Chapter you should file. A lot is involved with bankruptcy, but Chapter 7 is often called "fresh start" bankruptcy for a reason. If you receive a discharge (more than 90% do), you can open a checking account in every state if you wanted to. If you have a checking account now that is being frozen because of a judgment or court order, guess what? Once you file Chapter 7, that order gets removed immediately.
