I stopped a wage garnishment can they now garnish my bank account in TX
A company was garnishing my wages, I had that stopped, and getting reimbursed, do I have to worry about my bank account? I only have my paycheck going into it, will they try to garnish my bank account? If so how much? Should I close that account? Where can I put that money? This is a company that bought my debt from 8 years ago.

While wage garnishment is not allowed in Texas (I don't know why your company accepted the order), they can attach your bank account. And it won't matter that your salary goes into that account.

To garnish they have to had a judgement though the courts, not merely "bought" the debt. So when was the judgement, and which company got it.

I got my wage garnishment stopped, I don't know why my company let it happen in the first place (it is a large worldwide Corp. but I had to threaten them with a lawsuit before they actually checked into it. They admitted I was right. I will be getting my money back. My question now is do they have to go get another court order to garnish my bank acct. Should I close that account and get one in my significant others name and just be a signer on that acct. or will they be able to get to that? I tried to settle with them before and they aren't having any of that unless I pay in full. This repo happened in 2004, because of medical issues. They said they served me in 2008, in CO. but I lived in FL at the time, now I have lived in TX for the last two years.

So, I guess what I'm asking is should I close my bank acct. (which usually has no more than $400.00 at any given time) or just not have an acct. or can I use someone else's acct. and just be a signer on that acct. or can they come after that too? I hope you understand what I am asking here.

Close and just not have one, if you put your money into someone else's account and use it as your own, if they can prove it, they can still come after it, then you will have to prove what money is yours.

Prepaid cards are one place to put money perhaps each pay day.
