    Frozen accounts
Hi, I have gone through the message boards on this topic and have read some frightening answers. My guestion is about a joint checking account that is frozen.
Thiis is kind of a long story but here goes. My name is on the checking account, but I have no card and no acess to the online banking. Spouse will not let me see it and I don't even know the account #. Right now our account is frozen, my spouse gave me some real lame story about why it is( says he put $10.00 on debit card at Lowe's 2 years ago). But I know for a fact that spouse took out a credit card for porn sites, spouse never made any payments, the company called here about 2 months ago and I gave the phone to spouse who proceeded to lie though his teeth. Said he never opened an acccount, someone must of opened it in his name, and he wasn't paying it. They stopped calling but I'm wondering if they froze the accout? What I need to know is this, if my name is also on the frozen account, Can I get information about who froze it on my own? I live in NY.
    Thank you

If your name IS on an acct then all you have to do is talk to the bank and they should tell you if your name is on it. You would have to go in because they will want to see proof of your name and address before they tell you if your name is on any accounts.

Hi and thaks for answering. I already know my name is on the checking account, I want to know if the bank will give me further info on who froze the account, because I will never get the truth from my husband. Seeing my name is on account do I have the Right to this info?

Your name is on the acct so they should give you the information. You have the right to any of the information.

I already know my name is on the account, what I need to know is if I have the right to get this info on my own, I will never get the truth otherwise. My name is on the checks and I did have a card at one point but he said he needed because his was not working right and I just never got it back. Thanks

YES your name is on the account so you have as much right to know as he does.

Thing is though that it most likely is a collection agency that froze the acct and the bank wouldn't know who they bought the charge off and the collection agency will not tell you.

sounds to me sneaky = hiding something so I would go with your instincts to what is up
