    Visiting the moon in 1969.
How was the proposed idea of the first visit to the moon like in 1969? How did it exactly happen? Was it successful? Did anyone get injured? Did anyone discover something new?

    Why do you say proposed?

    It happened.

No one got hurt, they discovered some moon dust and rocks and how cool earth looks from up there.

Even the mythbusters have proven that we did land on the moon, it was not just proposed.

Here's an article that summarizes the Apollo program, which accomplished 6 landings on te moon between July 1969 and December 1972 - I think it answers your questions:

Also, three astronauts were in fact killed in the Apolo 1 fire in January 1967, during a training exercise on the launch pad. See:

The starting impetus was from a speech by President Kennedy - back around 1961/62/63. That should be covered in the references ebaines points out.

I do NOT believe the conspiracy theories. I think we did it to win the cold war. But our interest in space keeps the exploration going to no end. We will never stop exploring, NEVER! Us humans have an unquenchible thirst for our origin. The God thing has proved itself wrong a million times over. We have a need to explore the nature of being. There are lots of explainations and scientific studies. A God does not fit into the picture. Sorry.
