Is this thread to be all-inclusive such as involving those who are in the performing, literary, craft, and theater arts, etc. That is just a short list. There is an artist of some kind in all of us...

I am not sure about All-Inclusive,it is up to you as the Art expert being an artist in so many fields :) you should decide.

My field is Art on paper or fabrics,drawing,painting,crafts in general etc,so I am less familiar with performing Arts.

Maybe you could start one in performing Arts,including Theatre,music etc

Thank you for your reply, firmbeliever and being open to some discussion concerning where we are headed after the major success of "The Artist in you!" thread.

I have many thoughts and feelings about arts of many kinds and would like to see each thread in the Art topic area be successful and an enriching thing for anyone seeking information about any kind of art.

As such, I will post more here to share with you about some of my ideas and also yours after I have had a good nights rest and can think more clearly.

Anything that isn't perfect, is PERFECT to me.
So the most important thing here is what it says, it has been very special to me ever since the day I saw it in Allhearts sig. I have a few finishing touches to do to it, but I think it looks nice imperfect and plain. Hope to see some "stuff" from all of you as well!

Hey artlovers! I've been browsing the 'Artist in you' threads and wow is there some talent there huh? I was wondering, as I am not too familiar with adding pics, what size do they need to be? At the moment they're all 1920x2560 or 1.60mb. Is this too big?

Yes, that's too big. But, we do have people here who can help you to learn how to re-size your images so that you can post them on this site.

No. Please don't post what you have to offer in one of the computer sections. There are various art topic areas where you can and will be able to post images of your art. Thank you!

Hey there, giving a little unsolicited help here but when I was learning to post images, I sure did appreciate those who jumped right in to help me. If you have scanned your work or have photo images saved to a file folder, make sure they are saved as .jpg files and just open them each up in a photo program you have, just left click once to select image, then right click and it will give you the options of programs. Most photo programs have at the top either Image or Edit where you can get drop down box and it will say Resize. Choose pixels and the largest you can post on this site is 750 pixels. I usually make mine 450, length or width, which ever is largest. 600 actually shows up much better. Just preference. Once you have resized it, don't forget to go up to file and "Save As" and just add the word resized at the end of title, making sure at the bottom it says .jpg

Once you save it that way, using "Save As", you now have the original in your file as well as the newly sized image. Then when you post, select "Go Advanced", it gives you the option then to browse to find your image and attach it and you can also type in a description or comments as usual to post. I have a longer version of instructions if this is not clear enough. I am anxious to see images you have to share. :p

Well, FINALLY got all the dramas sorted with my images. Thanks for the advice Jrebel, I don't appear to have any option for resizing once the image has been right-clicked so eventually (with a little help from a more PC savvy other half) I realised that it can be done by opening the image in paint, then clicking on the image icon there. Modern technology aye! Hrrumph.

Aaanywho, I have always been a doodler and probably always will be. I'm a fan of the pencil but have been playing with pastels a bit since an artcourse I did a year ago.
You can see from this "Zeus" portrait where the light glares I need to brush up on my overcorrecting. Something my tutor gave me stick about... "you don't need to use a rubber or putty!" Lol. Sorry Mehrdad, guess I didn't listen!

Once I take photos of my other work, I'll upload some of them too. Hope someone likes 'em anyway and please give some critique. Keep up the great work guys!

I love this image of "Zeus". I took the liberty of lightening it up just a bit so that I could see more of the detail of the face. I am posting it. I hope that is okay. It is just a wonderful piece. Thank you for sharing it. If you want me to delete my post of it lightened I will but it just has so much to offer. Perhaps it was just dark on my computer screen. I would love seeing more of your work. Please explain more about the "rubber and putty". Is this a mixed medium piece. I am a bit confused. Is this pencil and pastel?

That was clever. Never thought of lightening it, thanks! A rubber (in my neck of the woods) is an eraser and the putty is just a type of eraser well suited to pencil and charcoal. I prefer it the most other erasers as it leaves no 'crumbs' when applied and can be shaped into a sharp tip for small areas, but my tutor doesn't like to use them at all especially as he's so skilled but the drawing surface can be damaged too if correcting is overdone. I personally like the effect they can create if used in the right way and well, I have a long way to go to be as skilled as him lol! The whole drawing was done in pencil, with the exception of the ball, which was pastel.

Sorry I don't have the photos to go with this one so you can compare with the original images.

Well new friend, it wouldn't allow me to "Rate the Answer" since I just did earlier on one of your posts. I was just going to say that I hope you realize how much talent you do have.

I use a "Design Kneaded Rubber" which I imagine is what you are describing. You use it to give a clean area to use, doesn't leave any traces of 'crumbs' and is great for highlighting by way of removing graphite already applied to an area. I agree with you that using this gives a great effect if used properly.

I am anxious to view other art works you might want to share. I would enjoy knowing also if you do this professionally on any level, art shows, do commission work, or take classes and do these pieces just for gifts.

It is just exciting seeing this great work. We all need inspiration and you have inspired me! Thank you.

Hi all, been having problems with my internet, hence the reason for my absence. Nice to hear my work is putting a positive vibe out there. Have been really busy lately so still don't have pics available of other work but won't forget!
I started doing the odd drawing for friends a long time ago, then thought I'd have a go at turning it into a business on the sideline which was OK for a while but with family pressures etc I slowed it right down to just a hobbie again.
Anyway, will see you all soon guys, chow for now. :)
