i need some help identifying original art value.
I have recently purchased a lot of original art at an auction. I mostly purchased based on actually loving some of the work, partly because I thought there could be monetary value as well. To start, I am having a heck of a time trying to decipher most of the cursive signatures. Next, I don't know exactly HOW some of this art was produced... it seems to be drawing on linen type paper, but a few, when you run your hands over them, feel indented or engraved. Also, many of them have an indentation around the rim of the actual drawing, not the entire piece of paper it is on, as if it were held in some type of vice/holder, while the artist worked on it. Anyway, I am going to ask that you review some of the photos of this art, I have details such as 2 of them, the less intricate "tree drawings" seem to be done in ink ~ when you hold them up to the light, you can see black through the other side, and the paper has a water mark of "L. Berville", one of which has a pencilled signing "May 1880". My favorite is the "MAN WITH DOG", 5 out of 15, signed "G. Luber '53". The most intricate tree piece is signed "Dwight Mouhead" ~ I had a heck of a time trying to read his last name... not sure. It's a VERY DETAILED drawing. It's exquisite really. Lastly, of those I can take a stab at decoding the signature, I have the one of the african woman sitting outside a cotttage, that is signed "J. Ch. Millet" both inside the drawing and on the bottom right hand side in pencil. I'm no where near knowing what the writings on the bottoms of the others say. THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION!
