    Does anyone recognize this place?
Can anyone tell me anything about this painting especially the location depicted in this piece. The artist's name is difficult to read. All I can make out is "OUI." I think it is somewhere in San Francisco, CA.

    Thank you.

I didn't think SF has palm trees. South American city, perhaps? Or a city near the Mediterranean? It has an "old world" look to it.

Yeah I don't think this is in SF.

It looks like New york or LA? That's my suggestion for you

    Hopes that helps.

Do you have any information about the painting itself?

Do you know when it was made (approximately) or if the painter is unknown or known.

If you have some info that would be helpful!

    1. if you have year or era+ unknown/known it might be easier to find out who the artist is.

I think that the signature of the artist is possibly starts with an I or Ik and ends with QUI.

As for where it can be, seeing as it has palm trees I HIGHLY doubt that its from New york.

But judging from the buildings I'd guess its from somewhere warmer (palm trees):

    My suggestions:
    Italy
    Greece
    South america
    Cuba?

I do think its medditerrainian... judging from the buildings themselves.

Can you take a picture of the artists signature? It looks like a picture a local artist would have done.

I'm agreeing, I think San Fran is too cold much of the year to keep palm trees alive. It certainly could be from the US though, palm trees can live even in the winter if kept wrapped and taken care of. Two story houses like those can be found all over the world. But note the lattice work near the street, and the lack (from what I can see) of any vehicles predominant in the street, this isn't depicted as a busy area. Your painting is also in a late 1900's frame, one popular in the mid-70's and later on. Is this the original frame?

You might want to consider carefully removing it from the frame to look for other markings on the painting itself.
