ID etching from circa 1940's
I have inherited an etching of Canal in Autumn (France) signed by Henri Fourday in the right lower corner. At the left is a circle with SZ L in it and a 2[I think] to the left. Can you tell me what this means? And if the etching is worth anything?

Not knowing what the etching looks like, although I do recognize the name, circa WW 1 and 2. I suggest you have it appraised as no one here could give you any idea what it is worth. He wasn't a particularly well known artist of the time, I think his name hung on from just the sheer volume of work he created back then.

Here's my usual C&P on this subject:

The response from scriptor-ga is very insightful.
Basically PES was set up by Sidney Z. Lucas, hence the SZL mark. He owned a printshop in New York in the years 1940 to 1960 where He
produced a large number of prints after old etchings.
Generally, prints by Mr. Lucas seem not to reach very high prices.
At the end of the day they look nice, but that's about it.
Most of what is talked about them is from people "boiler rooming" the price on the supposed French history.
I hope this helps.

I also have a print titled "Canal en automne (France)". It is signed by Henri Fourday, There is a mark indicating that it was printed by "SZL" and is numbered "3". It is copyrighted by the Paris Etching society, N.Y - U.S.A.
This print hung in my Grandmother's home in the 1940's.
Can you give me any information regarding this print and its value?
