    Smelly Washing Machine
We have a two year old Neptune Maytag Washing Machine. Every time we use it, there is a very strong smell while it is washing and in the tub portion after it is done. You can smell it as soon as you walk into the laundry room. It smells like a combination of rotten eggs and perhaps sulfer. I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.

Sometimes there is a build up of liquid fabric softer in the dispenser as well as lint. Also, the tub is actually sitting in another tub. One has holes, the outer one does not. Sometimes there is a build up of soap/softener. Try using bleach/water and a scrub brush to clean these areas thoroughly. Also keep the washer lid open between uses. Allows air to circulate. Had same problem a while back. Cathy

The Maytag Neptune washer is a front load machine and in the past they have had problems as you have described, having to do with the rubber boot at the bottom of the door. Call the 800 number that is in the instruction manual that came with the washer and they will be able to help you.

I had the same problem before. Leave the door open between uses and you should be fine.

NO! Call the company and make them correct the problem, why live with that problem for as much money you have spent on that machine. The company knows about it, make them correct it!!!
