Singer Sewing machine bobbin won't pick up?
My wife was sewing and needle broke and she installed a new needle and machine wouldn't pick up thread! It is Model # 457 made in and about 1969.

Check the bobbin case, see if the needle make a nick in the area where the needle picks up the loop.

If she has another bobbin case, try it.

Also rotate it manual ( turn it by hand) and watch the needle going down, does it look like the timing could be off.

And of course did she put the new needle into the machine in the right direction.

I found that you have to turn the wheel TOWARD you instead of away from you to pick up the bobbin thread
