    Rainsoft Water Softener: Manual Regeneration
I just purchased a rainsoft water softener and let the salt run low so there was only a few inches left in the brine tank. Should I manually regenerate now that I have filled with the appropriate level of salt or will this occur automatically? If I do manually regenerate, the owner's manual states that I'll need to manually go through each cycle. How many cycles are there and how long will all of this process take? Thanks very much!

It takes about an hour and a half to regenerate the rainsoft system, it has 4 cycles to go through.
If you manually regenerate it just push the "Regen" button until the gears start and then you should be able to leave it and it will go on it's own.

As far as needing to regenerate. No you don't need to. As long as there was salt still in the brine tank then there will be a sufficient brine concentration. For future reference if you start seeing water above the salt then that would be a good time to refill the tank. Just a little convenience tip.
    Hope this helps

Water Doctor... I have a rainsoft water softener and recently I noticed the brine tank is over half full with water. That doesn't seem right because over the years the salt level had to get really low before I would see water. Any idea if that means something is wrong with my system and what it takes to fix it. I'm running a manual regen now and it seems to be doing stuff but I just don't know exactly what it is supposed to be doing.

We have a rainsoft water softener that isn't providing soft water. I cleaned out the brine tank and replaced with new salt. It still is not working. Are there filters that have to be cleaned or replaced and where are they? The clock is working and it seems to go through all the cycles and its using salt. The drain hose is in the ground (we live in Florida and that's the way they installed it) could that be clogged and preventing the unit from working?

    At a loss

I have a Rain Soft system that I had moved from my old house and the water seems to be running constantly on the system it looks like it is going out the drain. There are two push bypass one on each tank. I pushed the bypass on the one with the timer and it stopped. Is this the correct thing to do?

Sometimes we turn the water on and it is very salty. Then later it is fine. What does this mean.

Water softener resin clogging water supply lines [ 1 Answers ]

We have a water softener that has a resin filter that has broken numerous times due to surges in water pressure. This time we didn't realize it had broken in time to bypass the softener and avoid getting resin in the lines again. We've already flushed the resin out of the 2 toilets and 2 sinks...

Constant running water noise, old water softener pipes? [ 3 Answers ]

When we bought our house, it came with a decommissioned water softener in the laundry room. The pipes behind it (I'm assuming in and out) were capped off with plastic plugs that toggle back and forth. If you're familiar with Dr. Dolittle, I'd call it a pushmi-pullyu setup.
