Overflowing Washing Machine
I inherited a condo (5th floor) from my dad when he passed away. I have this rented. There is a washer that overflowed for 45 min and ruined the oak flooring in my unit and the ceilings and flooring in several units below mine. This is a disaster! After checking it out, I believe the overflow was caused by the load setting jamming in an "in between" position. The water never shut off and flowed over the inner tub, out the bottom of the machine until manually shut off.
Question: Does a machine exist that has an automatic shut off after a certain number of gallons has been pumped in? I'm terrified to put a washer back into this rental unit! Jennifer:confused: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/images...s/confused.gif |

Check two things, the water solenoid and the pressure switch.
If no water flows in the machine when it is in the off position, then the solenoid is working fine. If water conitnes to flow, chances are your solenoid needs to be replaced. If no water flows when you have the machine off, then your pressure switch may be bad, but first, check the hose leading from the tub to the switch, make sure it doesn't have a crack, hole, or has popped off. Once you have verified that the hose is in good working shape, you can suspect the pressure switch. The washer probobly doesn't count the gallons that enters the tank, it runs on a pressure switch. There is a hose at the bottom of the tub, as water begins to fill the tub, this water will put pressure on the hose and once the desired pressure is obtained, it will make a switch. |
