Some GE dishwashers have what GE calls a "power piston". When this part erodes, the dishwasher can't drain efficiently. Other units have a series of check valves within the various hoses that can get plugged with debris. Unfortunately, there is no real help I can provide without a model number off the appliance data tag, usually found near the door opening on the front edge of the tub.
