GE Icemaker not producing ice and also tripping fuse
Hi, I have an Australian version GE side by side Refrisgerator GSG25MISAFBB which has the WR30X10013 Icemaker (220v). The Icemaker recently froze up and stopped producing ice so I broke off the excess ice but then it tripped the power breaker (fuse). I reset it and then ran through the icemaker diagnostic procedure which all worked as it should. I then left it for a day but still no ice. So I ran through the diagnostics again and half way through it tripped my power breaker on my power board again. So do I need a new icemaker or could it be the main board? And where might I buy 220v parts in the US that will deliver to Australia (local guys want $450 for a new icemaker)

    Thanks
    Tony

Here is a manual: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/GE_Profile_Artica.pdf This icemaker is about the same, just different voltage: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/R-1...e%20Manual.pdf
Probably, the heater in the bottom is shorted out. You need to use a meter to test it out as you should not just randomly replace parts. Take off the end cap to get to the wires (unplug and remove the icemaker, first) and you can test each circuit to ground and the one that shorts out is bad, or a wire is loose. Here is a manual on using a meter: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/How...e%20Manual.pdf
Buy a meter and learn to use the "ohms" function. The meter sends a small current though what you are testing to see if power will flow. You want it to flow through some things but NOT to ground. Switches either let current flow or don't depending on the position and resistive loads have different values, but not zero. It's easy to do and the meter will save you a lot of money and time.
