Front load washer shuts off during cycle
I have a whirlpool duet HT front load washer. Model #GHW9400PW4. During the wash cycle it shuts off and lights flash. I also noticed the spin not going as fast as it should. I replaced the motor only to have the same problem. Could the replacement motor be bad also? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The problem is that you did not follow proper troubleshooting procedures: You change a part AFTER you TEST it, not before. Changing a part is a last resort after you have checked everything else, but is NEVER done on a motor because they are so easily tested with a digital multimeter. Buy a good digital multimeter from Home Depot (or that kind can be found at Radio Shack, Lowe's, etc.) as a first step. Then learn to use it. If you want to test amperage, also, buy a clamp-around meter which has a head that either has a hinged clamp to surround a wire with a coil, one, the Fluke, has a U-shaped head that you just put the "U" around the wire to test the magnetic field for amperage. Clamp-around meters also do everything other meters do, as well. I found a good one at Home Depot for a low price. They are a necessity to have. These are very good tools to test the amp draw of motors and breakers to see if they are bad or not and for many other reasons such as finding out if an air conditioning compressor is pulling the load it is supposed to pull or is just spinning and using electricity without pumping much due to bad valves. These manuals will show you how to fix many things, too. Read how to understand washing machines and it will help a lot, along with all the others, too.
