    Dryer - harsh, scraping noise
    HI -
My clothes dryer makes a harsh, scraping noise as it is turning but only for parts of the cycle. Usually near the beginning, and then again about mid-way through. On either side of this period, the dryer turns quietly. Gradually the scraping noise seems to increase, becoming louder and louder, before tapering off again.

It's a used dryer and I've had it awhile without service.
Any ideas and is this an expensive fix?
I'm totally NOT handy at all, don't have a dad or husband who can do this for me...

    Thanks

The bearings for the drum are dry. Might diassemble and apply some high temperature grease or replace the bearings.

Usually the top pops off. Then there are usually 2 screws that hold the front panel on. Then the bearings are located inn the rear of the drum area and the front are bearing band is located on or near the front panel/door area. There have been many different bearing setups over the years so you will need to look around while you are in there for areas of wear. While you have it apart you might as well replace the belt also and clean out alll the extra lint.

Dryer makes noise and is hot [ 1 Answers ]

I have a new Frigidaire Dryer (model number FEQ332ES) and after it's 3rd load (drying undergarments on medium heat) the top back of the dryer became very hot and the dryer started to make a bumping noise (it sounds as if something such as tennis shoes are in the dryer). I checked the ventilation...

Maytag dryer noise [ 1 Answers ]

My Maytag dryer (10 years old) makes a griding noise that appears to be coming from the motor (I took the back panel off). It still spins and dries but the noise is terrible--like a broken bearing? Is it worth it to have it repaired or buy a new one? Thank you.

Frigidaire Dryer Noise [ 1 Answers ]

I have a Frigidaire electric dryer (Model #FDE336RES2). It is making a rattling/rumbling noise (Not a squealing or sqeaking noise). The noise is getting louder. Any suggestions on how to repair the problem. Thanks
