Ceiling fan light works but fan doesn't
Ceding fan light works but there is no other switch on fan. No chain either. Fan hangs from ceiling has five blades then light with glass cover and nut to hold cover. Cannot see any other switch. There is a wall switch that tuns light on but not fan. How can I make this fan work?

You will need to test it with a good digital multimeter. Turn off the power to it and take the wires loose from power and to the fan motor. Turn on the switch to fan and with meter set to "ohms" see if you have about zero ohms (The same as you get by touching the two leads on meter together.). If you get continuity in the switch test the motor by reading between the wire that supplies power (The one you took loose from the switch.) and neutral from the motor. You should get between 100-300 ohms or so. Then test to see if you get a reading between one of the fan motor wires and ground by putting one lead on a motor wire and one on the metal case of the motor, taking care not to let the other wire touch anything. If you read anything to ground then the motor is bad or one of the wires is grounded and needs repairing. You will know from these tests whether the motor or the switch is bad, or neither. You will find a good set here: Klein Tools Electrical Analog Multimeter Test Kit-69149 at The Home Depot or Gardner Bender 4-Func 14-Range Manual Digital Multimeter-GDT-3190 at The Home Depot It's a good idea to buy a meter that has automatic protection in case you touch a hot wire while it's on "ohms." You will have to ask the sales people if it has automatic protection or a fuse. Either one works but if are are new to using a meter automatic protection is better since at times the right fuse can be hard to find and you will one day blow one; everyone does. |

I installed a new Hampton Bay ceiling fan outdoors and the light works from a wall switch but the fan doesn't work at all. There is a white, black, red and ground wire coming from the ceiling. There is a white, black, black/white stripe (light) and green ground coming from the fan. I attached...
It's a harbor breeze fan. Have separate switches for light/fan. Wired as follows: White to white. Black to black. Red to blue.
Recentle (Sunday) installed a ceiling fan with light. Before disconnecting the old fan/light because the fan didn't work we made note of the wire connections. Black to black white to white and blue to red. The unit is controlled by a wall switch. The lights work but the fan doesn't.
My mom's house has a Hunter ceiling fan, (I don't know the model #), that has 4 lights and fan. It operates with a remote only. The remote will work the lights, but not the fan. When I press the fan button on the remote, I can hear a click in the fan motor, but the fan doesn't turn. Any ideas?
Hey Guys, I own a Harbor Breeze Armitage ceiling fan (model CC52WW5C) and the fan has stopped working. The light works fine but I get nothing from the fan. Any ideas? Or doesn't anybody have some contact info for Harbor Breeze (besides "Go to Lowes")? Thanks!
