Bypass frigidaire filter - can I simply connect input and output hoses together?
I have a Frigidaire Side-by-Side refrigerator with a water filter (pure source 2) in the upper right side of the frig. It leaks, air gets in the line and causes loud knocking sounds and the replacement part is expensive. I'd like to bypass the filter unit by simply connecting the input and output hoses thus making it an uninterrupted flow of water without interruption by a filter unit. Can I do this without causing a different problem?

Do I need a bypass unit to bypass the filter in my frig or can I simply connect the input and output hoses to make an uninterrupted flow? I can't imagine this won't work but want to be sure before I cut the hoses.

If you have any problems with sediment in your water you could have problems with clogging. If you have a water filter ahead of the fridge somewhere in the house, one that has a small enough particle rating, you should have no problem.

I have the same question. Did your solution work? If so was it easy to do? Thanks.

    lol.

the valve on your refrigerator has a screen on it... this will stop most flakers from getting into your drink. Inline filters are good. It is best to filter the water close to the source of drinking.
