    Bright, then dim lights
On my ceiling fan, I know about the dimmer function, and it does dim and brighten. The issue is, when it is full bright, it only stays like that for around 10 seconds, them goes to a dimmer level. I have to hit the dimmer button again to get it back to full bright, where it goes dim again in 10 seconds. I have purchased a new wall controller, but problem still exists. I have removed the controller completely and hard wired, and it still has the issue. The lights are the candelabra style, and the old fan was the normal base style. Do I need to purchase a new fan with the normal light sockets to get this to work properly?

What kind of fan is it and what type of bulbs are you using? Make and model number helps a lot.

    Thanks,
It is a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Not sure of the model, box was tossed. Using candelabra 40W bulbs that came with it. I think I may try to bypass the voltage regulator and see if that helps tonight. I changed out the controller, and even hard wired and the lights still start full bright, then drop down a few degrees. Doesn't want to stay on full, even after trying to dim them up fully.

Ceiling Fan lights shine bright, but then dim after 5 seconds [ 1 Answers ]

We bought a ceiling fan that takes 4 - 40 watt bulbs. We placed 4 - 60 watt bulbs instead and noticed the diming from the very first time after installation. Is this a safety feature built into the fan and if so, what component does this? Thank you for your help.
