I'm so up to here with advice to dump, white flour, white rice, and white sugar. I don't eat rice so I'm okay with that. I can dump the sugar so I'm okay with that too, but eat whole-wheat bread in place of white bread — I'd rather eat baked horse manure.
Wouldn't white bread be okay if I ate wheat germ with my cereal? I already eat Metamucil for fiber. I want to be healthy, but I don't want it to kill me.

I would try like a 7 Grain. Great toasted with Butter/Margarine?
Does't have the baked in flavor you speak of.

Hey Wacko. Do what you want. No one is forcing you to eat something that you don't like. Wheat germ is good for you. Although white bread holds no nutritional value and pretty much acts like paste in your system, if you find other high fiber foods that you enjoy to counteract its effect on your body, there shouldn't be a problem. Not enough fiber and liquid in your body to push everything through your colon can create problems later in life. Here is a link that lists high fiber foods. Although the site seems to be geared toward women, the info provided applies to both sexes. Find the things you like and incorporate them into your diet. And, continue to enjoy your white bread if you can't live without it.

Yes eat your write bread and drink it down with a six pack of beer, it is your life. Actually I guess everyone likes different things, to me some of the items like Potato bread or some of the whole wheat bread
We do all we want to for ourself,

There are many versions of wheat grain bread out there, try the one with honey it it, try oat bread, Rye, Oatmeal molasses, pumernickel, sprouted grain, The 7 grain is excellent. White flour was invented because it doesn't spoil when stored and is cheaply to make. Wheat germ is great but it's still white bread. It's just a matter of trying other forms of flour and wanting to change unhealthy choices, but it is still... your choice.

Hey 2wacko, Sorry I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, It did answer your question
See what white bread does to you. Seems to make people mean. You couldn't wait to run and give me a red mark "Because I didn't give answer you wanted to hear" and then 2 minutes later you say "I'm concluding my question was not well put"
You have 4 post. Couldn't wait to complain.
Enjoy your white bread, sugar, and white rice. What does anyone know?

Wacko, if you didn't get the answers you were looking for and you realize that you might have worded your post in a confusing way, why don't you explain it a bit better so we can help you.
If you are looking for us to tell you that Metamucil & wheat germ are sufficient, we can't. They are not. Those are considered supplements to a good healthy diet. "I want to be healthy, but I don't want it to kill me." Now come on. That is just a very silly thing to state here. It is all about retraining yourself to make healthier choices. You don't have to cut out all the things you love. You just have to find a way to cut down on the bad stuff a bit, not cut them out completely if you don't want to, and increase some of the better choices out there that you still enjoy eating. Find foods you like that that aren't going to make you feel like you are eating sawdust. If you prefer to eat all the foods that are considered bad for you, then you are going to have health problems. There isn't a way around that, although genetics also plays a factor in the extent of the health problems that you are faced with. Is a doctor telling you that you have to change your diet? Are you having some specific health problems now? Give us a little more info and we will do our best to help you.
