What started as a San Fran issue has gone to Blue cities across the USA.

This is not inner city bodegas .These thieves are hitting the high end retailers where the woke elite progressive shoppers do their business .

Back in March, the California Supreme Court ruled that judges in the state must consider a suspect’s ability to pay when setting bail pricesIt's sheer lunacy. The state is basically encouraging robbery.

Defunding is a misnomer, a scary, even panicky synonym that Republicans have tossed into the effort to add qualified and well-trained counselors and social workers to police forces. They will accompany police when appropriate and necessary.

WG I believe you are giving the term your own definition that the Dems who speak of defunding do not intend.
Austin Texas cut the police budget by a third and reallocated the money for abortion services and food welfare etc
Yes some increases in social services are also in budgets
These cities among others have already slashed police budgets ....New York City
Washington, D.C. Baltimore Philadelphia Los Angeles San Francisco Atlanta Minneapolis Seattle All have experiences spikes in crime since .
In Minneapolis, homicides increased by 60%. Atlanta, 2020 was the city’s most violent year on record. The city’s police department investigated 157 homicides in 2020, up from 99 in 2019 and the highest number in more than 20 years.
Many cities are reversing some of those insane policies .Sandinista Bill approved slashing police funding , But one year later ;because of the resulting increase in crime ;he reinstated almost $100 million to the police budget . I am sure the new mayor will restore even more as defunding caused a shortage of both experienced officers due to retirements ;but also hiring from the police academy. Baltimore, cut the police budget by $22 million last year. But because of the crime spike the mayor proposed a $27 million increase.
What needs to be addressed in some cases is police behavior . That can be addressed while still maintaining proper funding for public protection .

Exactly right. The dems who push defunding are plainly cutting police budgets and cutting police personnel. The result is predictable and tragic, and who suffers the most? It is, as usual, the poor, the ones who can't live in gated communities and oftentimes can't protect themselves because of archaic "gun control" laws that prohibit them from being able to defend themselves.
To suggest that the term "defunding" was concocted by the repubs just really seems to be questionable. Don't know where that idea came from.

Mayor Beetlejuice dropped her lawsuit against the police union saying that enough police are being vaxed. She failed to mention that a judge stopped the city from firing cops until her order was dealt with in arbitration.
Meanwhile as she takes on the police , a sad milestone was surpassed . Chi-town had it's 1,000th murder . And we still have another month of carnage to go.
80% of the victims are Blacks . That fact gets a collective yawn because it doesn't fit into the left's narrative. However ,now that big crime has come to Chi-town's Gold Coast it is being noticed .

As you said, 80% of the victims are black. Even worse, "data obtained by WBEZ under Illinois' open-records law show the city had 849 murders between the beginning of 2018 and this past July. When the victim was white, 47% of the cases were solved during those same 19 months. For Hispanics, the rate was about 33%. When the victim was African American, it was less than 22%." So the message would seem to be clear. Knock off a black guy and you'll get away with it. Just incredible.
The economy under Trump set records for low minority and female unemployment. It can be hoped that minority Americans will begin to see that their futures do not lie with the liberal dems.

So, the mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, was shocked....shocked that a 1 year-old was struck and killed by a stray bullet in her lawless city; and a retired cop hired as store security was killed. So, she is abandoning her idiotic defund the police rhetoric and is going to hire more cops.

Last year,as the whole defund the police movement was gaining momentum, murders in the US rose by 30%. It still is not as high as it was in the 1990s. But considering the years prior to 2020's decreases, it is a shocking sudden increase.
While lib apologists try to blame the pandemic; it is clear that policies like bail reform; other soft on crime policies like defund the police are the real causes in the spike. Some of these policies include decriminalizing of retail theft and severing ties between police depts and public schools.
That is one of the policies defunding the police has bought that we have not discussed much here
NYC has been phasing out cops in schools. 38 weapons were recovered over a three-day period from a high school campus in Brooklyn earlier this month.
The Los Angeles system voted in February to cut the number of school police officers by 40%.
“108 assaults took place between August and October of this year, with 16 students requiring hospitalization. Police sources add that 44 weapons were recovered, including five handguns and 32 knives.”

I long for the day when the left's voting block realize they have been backing the wrong horse. You would think that day would come, but I don't expect it anytime soon. Once people get their minds solidly made up, it seems that no amount of data or reason can change it. It typically takes something dramatic. Perhaps these growing crime waves will begin to invade their communities. That might do it.
The same is true of abortion. If the national media ever becomes objective enough to report honestly on the brutal methods of abortion and the ghastly and tragic outcomes, then abortion will come to an end. Again, it seems to much to hope for.

Here is an interesting take from Chi town . The Cook Country prsecutor Kim Foxx refused to charge gang members arrested after a shoot out that left 1 dead and 2 wounded . Her reason was that the gang members were "Mutual combatants" ;meaning that they all chose to engage in a shootout with each other.
Even Mayor Beetlejuice is outraged . She asked for Federal intervention but so far AG Garland is more concerned with the threat of parents at school board meetings.
Mutual combatants is an old concept that police traditionally use when 2 people are engaged in a fist fight that the cops break up. It is decided that no charges will be filed . This may be the first time it was used when weapons and probably illegal weapons were involved and a death occurred .
Foxx has the political and financial backing of the Civic Participation Action Fund,a PAC funded by George Soros.. Soros is the puppet master behind the woke criminal justice system. He spent $400,000 on her campaign for County DA .and $300,000 the Civic Participation Action fund.He has been spreading his wealth across the US to fundamentally change law enforcement in the US.. The reason Soros has spent so much money on DA races is straighforward . The emperor used “prosecutorial discretion” to grant de facto amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants when he could not get the immigration laws he wanted passed . Soros recognizes that local prosecutors can exercise the same discretion to selectively enforce laws. So he can spend $$$ on DA races knowing that the outcome will determine how and if laws are enforced.
Try as she might ,Foxx could not prevent Jusse Smollett from being charged .2019 she dropped 16 felony counts against him. At the time. The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association said that she “failed in her most fundamental ethical obligations.” and called on her to resign
She's still there .Among the changes she has made in Chi town was the vacating of dozens of convictions and the suspension of prosecuting thefts less than $1,000 .Now she legalized gangland shootouts .

Madam Mim responded to San Francisco Mayor London Breed's announced crime crackdown
RAW: Mayor London Breed Announces Crime Crackdown in Tenderloin - AIR.TV (https://www.air.tv/watch?v=TM14C5IgT9OJhBIB4VDCMg)
Madam Mim said ;
What it is, it's absolutely outrageous. Obviously, it cannot continue. But the fact is that there is an attitude of lawlessness in our country that springs from I don't know where. Maybe you do. And we cannot have that lawlessness become the norm. And these people have -- they have -- they coordinate with each other, and they plan traffic patterns and the rest so that they can reach their goal and depart very quickly.
And some of it is, again, high-level stores, as the retailers have told us, and some of it is your local Walgreens. But none of it is acceptable, and again, it is -- it has to be stopped. And again, showing that people are not being able to profit from that isn't like somebody stealing something to go home because they don't have the money to buy.
This is about stealing for profit. They have to prove where it came from. It's outrageous, and it must -- I agree with the mayor. It must be stopped. And it's not just San Francisco, it's in our entire country, and that's evidenced by the appeals that we are receiving from across the country for the legislation.
So, I hope that that will be soon. And for many reasons, including the provenance of the goods.

Just goes to show you that all students can learn.
Most recently is San Francisco Mayor London Breed. In July 2020 while nationwide protests were reaching their zenith, the Democratic mayor announced $120 million in budget cuts to the city’s police department and promised to reinvestment those funds in communities.
But an ongoing wave of crime and violence impacting her city has evidently made her change her mind. Earlier this month Mayor Breed unveiled a series of proposals aimed at curbing the mayhem, including securing emergency funds for law enforcement.
The plan includes more police funding for overtime officers. Breed noted that vacation and time off have been canceled for officers in an effort to address the spike in crime.
So the first message was, "Police, go jump in a lake," but now it's a message that we need you so much we are willing to cancel your vacation and leave times so you can work overtime cleaning up the mess caused by Mayor Breed. Wonder how many cop votes she'll get in the next election?
At least she is not alone in her misery.
Across the San Francisco Bay, Oakland officials have reversed plans to cut the city’s police department following a surge in violence that included roving armed caravans, an uptick in homicides and brazen smash-and-grab burglaries.
Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf has pledged to hire more police officers after suggesting that police officers should be replaced by public employees who can respond to traumatic scenes and other situations she described as unrelated to law enforcement.
Yeah, thank goodness for the liberal dem, female mayors. How would we get by without them? <sarc>

And a little more.
Following 2020’s already historically bloodied year, 12 major U.S. cities – all run by Democrats – have broken annual homicide records for 2021. For Texas, Austin was among those cities on the nationwide list, but contrastingly, Dallas’ fate is more optimistic, as crime is declining. This year through Nov. 30, Dallas saw an 8.47% reduction in overall violent crime compared with last year, according to statistics from the violent crime reduction plan update presented last week to City Council’s Public Safety Committee. Murders are down by 12.23%, while total robberies also declined by 29.04%.

Come to think of it, maybe I'll pass on that one. That's especially true when I look at the near-totalitarian state Australia has become.
Consider these knife laws in England.
You should contact your local police (https://www.gov.uk/contact-police) to check if a knife or weapon is illegal.
Good reasons for carrying a knife or weapon
Examples of good reasons to carry a knife or weapon in public can include:
taking knives you use at work to and from work
taking it to a gallery or museum to be exhibited
if it’ll be used for theatre, film, television, historical reenactment or religious purposes, for example the kirpan some Sikhs carry
if it’ll be used in a demonstration or to teach someone how to use it
A court will decide if you’ve got a good reason to carry a knife or a weapon if you’re charged with carrying it illegally.

Unfortunately for NYC ;George Soros backed Alvin Bragg ,the new DA, is a clown act He has vowed to go easy in sentencing on almost every crime except murder, domestic violence and sexual assault .He instructed his staff to instructed his staff to stop prosecuting many low-level offenses, to seek reduced charges for certain crimes and not to ask for bail except in the most serious cases.
“This rule may be excepted only in extraordinary circumstances based on a holistic
analysis of the facts, criminal history, victim’s input (particularly in cases of
violence or trauma), and any other information available,”
NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell sent an e-mail to cops on Friday saying she’s “concerned” for their safety.
“I have studied these policies and I am very concerned about the implications to your safety as police officers, the safety of the public and justice for the victims,” “I am making my concerns known to the Manhattan District Attorney and hope to have frank and productive discussions to try and reach more common ground.”
Unfortunately it looks like Eric Adams will take Bragg's side . I am beginning to have real doubts about Adams

He has vowed to go easy in sentencing on almost every crime except murder...It is well known that nearly half of all murders are committed by young black men, so does that make the DA a racist guilty of exercising clear discrimination by singling out a crime far more likely to be committed by a particular race???
