View Full Version : Can a r-410a txv cause premature failure on an r-22 compressor

My A/C compressor died a couple days ago. Today we had a tech out to diagnose the system. After determining the compressor was dead (and working up a quote for a replacement). He wanted to look at the coil for potential wear/damage also. At that time he discovered the coil was rated for an r-410a system and so was the txv. I know the coil itself is fine, but will the higher pressure valve cause undo/premature wear on the compressor? Ultimately causing it to fail after 7 years.

Quite possible, R-401 runs at a much higher head pressure than R-22 and compressor is designed for same.
