My boyfriend of 8 months, professed his love to me constantly by text, e-mail and in person. He was desperate for us to move in together and to make a commitment. I have been renovating my flat so needed to complete that job first but always said I was excited about moving in together.

Last Thursday we spoke at length about our future plans and planned to book a holiday that weekend so were really excited. Then on Friday, my ex came round to do some electrical work at my flat and then my boyfriend (now ex) came home so wasn't too happy about my previous ex being there, but said he understood that this saved me money.

We went to his friends for dinner and they made me feel very uncomfortable. We got home and argued about this and he felt I was being a nasty person after too much to drink. He left and went back to his own flat and refused to see me the next day. On Sunday we agreed to meet to discuss everything and he wouldn't stop holding my hand and touching me, saying he loved me. We got back together and had a great reconciliation, then when we were sat at night, he said he doesn't know if he wants to be with me - the shock I felt! He's not been very specific but has said he needs time to think and doesn't expect me to wait, so I ended up leaving his flat saying I agreed. If he needed time to think, I don't think he was really that into the whole relationship. I'm now shell-shocked and don't understand what's gone wrong. I've heard nothing from him since.

So you live with your ex boyfriend? Is that right?

Is he sincere with his feelings do you think or is he someone who likes the romanticism of it all?

<<We went to his friends for dinner and they made me feel very uncomfortable>>

What was this argument over exactly? How did they make you feel uncomfortable?

For now leave him alone to think... No contact... and meanwhile get into uncertainty yourself and decide if this is the kind of guy you really want.

So how long ago was this time to think a while or just recently?

No we didn't live together but spent every night together until about a month ago, when I wanted to see my friends so did this when his child came to his (he has a 3 year old from a previous marriage). He seemed genuine with his feelings and sent me so many loving cards and constantly touched me and held me so didn't feel this will just a romantic notion.

The argument was over my ex being in my flat doing d.i.y, his friends ignoring me and talking politics all evening. We split up 2 weeks ago so don't think he's coming back.

Are you doing OK? And keeping no contact?

How long had he broke up from his ex when you met him?

Doing OK now but still missing him. He split from his ex wife 2 1/2 years before I met him and had only had one brief relationship before me. Did end up texting him last weekend to say that I missed him and wanted to be part of his life with his child, as think that affected him more than he said. In terms of me not being there when she was. I caught up with friends when he did this. No reply or response from him though so am now taking the hint. Silly me!
