I have a approx. 4 yr old GE top loading clothes washer model # WJRE5550H1WW. Recently, I realized that my washer would not spin or agitate. After some online research, I took the front cover off the washer to access the motor, wiring, etc. After a Ohm test, I realized the fuse was blown on the wiring harness. I replaced the fuse using the correct replacement fuse. I reset the computer by unplugging the washer and opening/closing lid 6 times. Flashing light indicated everything was functioning properly. I ran a empty wash cycle and the agitate and spin worked fine. Before I put the cover back on and called it good, I checked the spin and agitate one more time just to make sure. Unfortunately, the fuse blew again during spin cycle.
I replaced the fuse a second time... the spin and agitate worked but, again it blew 1 minute into the spin cycle. Uhhggg! I checked the power outlet and got a reading of 122v, which every outlet in my house is reading. I inspected all the wiring in my washer and I couldn't see anywhere a short may appear. What is wrong? Is my motor drawing too much power? And why? I am looking for any solutions before I have to spend over $100 on bringing a service tech out. THANKS!
