I was diagnosed with ADHD and have been taking a medication (adderall) for it for over 8 years. In that 8 year period, I struggled with addiction to pain medication. I started a treatment program and I am taking Suboxone as part of my treatment. There are certain doctors that can prescribe medication for Suboxone. I was seeing a doctor who was no longer allowed to prescribe suboxone. So, I had to transfer to a different doctor. When I went to my ADHD doctor, he released me from his care and said that he would not see anyone taking this medication. I was okay with that. BUT, they called my other doctor and told then that I was doctor shopping by getting suboxone from two different doctors. I just received a notice from my Suboxone doctor stating that they were informed that I was seeing other physicians for the same medication. I had told the ADHD doctor that her information was not accurate. Can that doctor call other doctors and say I am doctor shopping? Now I am screwed and I have done nothing wrong. I will not be able to be treated for my ADHD nor my addiction all because the electronic medical records showed two doctors with the same medication.
